Tell Us Your Birth or Pregnancy Story
Easily record your story (audio or video) on our private research app
Thank you for your willingness to share your experiences. The RESPCCT Study is collecting stories that describe quality of pregnancy and childbirth care in Canada, including experiences of respect, support, discrimination, and/or mistreatment. We will try to understand factors that may affect quality of care for pregnant persons from different identities, circumstances, or backgrounds including those living with disabilities, health challenges, or have been pregnant while homeless, imprisoned, low income, or live in rural/remote areas. If you would like to complete the RESPCCT Survey or learn more about the study, please click here.
When you enter the app, you will be asked to choose a project from a drop-down menu. Please choose “The RESPCCT Study”.
You can record your story on VoQual anonymously, but you will need to enter an email to register. The email address will not be connected to your recording. You can choose to record by audio or video. The app allows you to review your recording and to change it if you have made a mistake.
What to Record
Please tell a short story about an experience that stands out to you from a pregnancy or birth that you experienced in Canada between 2010 and 2020. You could describe an interaction with a caregiver, especially respectful or disrespectful care, or an idea about how others may be able to learn from your experiences.
If you feel that some aspect of your background influenced your care (where you live, or your ethnic background, body type, financial situation, religion, or language, etc.), we invite you to share that with us as well, with as much detail as you feel comfortable.
Please also share your suggestions for how we can improve care for families in Canada.
Privacy
The study team will keep your information confidential. To help us do this, please avoid mentioning names or locations (doctors, hospitals, cities, etc.) in your recording.
You can click here or copy this link https://www.birthplacelab.org/crisis-services-and-support/ to find some support for any distress you may feel as a result of sharing your story.
